TUDOR WITH A TWIST
RDID’s Tudor with a twist project was a gut remodel of a dated Tudor on the Northshore of Chicago in the village of Kenilworth. This project is the RDID showroom and Rae Duncan’s home. The goal of this project was to transform a historic interior into a contemporary space that incorporated a lot of wild colors and patterns, funky furniture and fixtures that would accentuate the wild and fun aesthetic. Rae wanted to use different elements that were unusual and not often incorporated into residential spaces. She used lacquer and also black trim throughout. Rae incorporated many of the ceilings into the design of each room and used unique stone to enhance the interest and elevate the space. Black marble was also used for all window seals in the home. All electrical needed complete updating. The remodel included adding a second-floor laundry, tea station, kid’s den, as well as a home gym.
